One of the major purposes for Black Girls With Gardens is to provide representation and support for women of color interested in gardening. Weekly (we try), we interview and/or feature a woman of color slaying plant motherhood. We do this for two reasons: 1) to highlight that women of color are not only dabbling in gardening, but they are mad good at it 2) to show how they do, their approach, and perspective on gardening, plants, etc.
The rewarding thing about growing is that everyone does it differently and the results are still beautiful. It is refreshing to see other coco colored women with their fingers in the dirt, just like you. That’s why we do plant mama features.
Together, these articles inspire other women to start that dream garden, support each other, and of course, slay.
